That’s long overdue, and is a small step towards rectifying the problems in the community, which the town leaders saw as a piggy bank since the fees would quickly add up and they’d have no way to avoid jail or further fines. The system there was essentially a black hole of justice. Once you fell into its orbit, there was no escape.

Sadly, Ferguson is hardly alone with this - there are far too many other communities that treat minorities in the same way.
