A state that gives us the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders but then seeks to prevent young women from emulating them. Really sums up what is wrong with a lot of conservatives.

Now to be fair, the guy’s bill went down in flames and ridicule, so we at least have our priorities straight when it comes to our cheerleaders.

I may out myself a bit with this….but that’s ok.

Do you remember a few years ago in Texas we had a scandal where a woman tried to hire a hitman to off the mother of a girl that made cheerleader instead of her daughter? “Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot.” They made a movie out of it with Holly Hunter. Link

The woman that was the target of the murder plot, Verna Heath, is my aunt by marriage. My family was in the thick of the most insane Texas cultural idiocy….cheerleading and football.

It’s obviously died down, but i still occasionally hear my husband yell from the other room, “Honey! Your crazy family is on T.V. again!” They still run specials and documentaries about it.
