We’re further north, so the day is shorter.

DST is also not a problem of north-south, it’s also a problem of east-west. I live near the eastern boundary of Mythical Time Zone (it’s only a few miles from here). As such, the sun comes up much earlier in the morning by the clock (DST or not) than it does over on the west side of Utah.

We could go like the People’s Republic of China and just put the whole country on one time zone with no DST. That solves everything (and they don’t seem to have any software issues with that either).

I don’t think a single time zone would work… if only because the work around would be “people further west starting the day later”.

Personally, I’d be fine with ending day light savings time - whether we go permanent standard time or permanent day light time, I don’t really care.
