re: #256 lawhawk

The Iranian regime had no problem sending hundreds of thousands to die on the battlefields in the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war; including kids who were sent on the battlefield to trip mines so that the guys with guns and tanks wouldn’t have to.

That’s a generation removed from the current power struggles. Would the regime find enough willing when the regime is threatened by the opposition that considers it illegitimate? Well, they’ve still got the Basiji on their side, and the army hasn’t moved in to shut down either the mullahs or the opposition. (Yet).

That’s a ground war, not a nuclear war. The Iranian REGIME didn’t go out to die, did they? And that’s what the heart of it is.

Again, nuclear exchange would destroy Iran and leave it uninhabitable slag. I am familiar with the IranIraq war, as anyone who reads this blog out to be.

I’ll ask again: do you believe the power base of Iran is unified in commiting suicide?
