I suspect that if the building under consideration was a downtown JCC or 92nd St Y or Mormon Temple or Baptist Church we wouldn’t be having this exchange. There would be no articles, no Op-Eds, no hate ads, no speculation about suitcases of cash (!) no nothing.

But it’s a mosque, so we are.

To me, the essence of bigotry is drawing conclusions about a person or group solely because of their belonging to a particular race, religion, nationality, gender or sexual orientation. I would respectfully suggest that this is exactly what is going on here.
