I can pretty much guarantee that many in the GOP leadership right now are absolutely livid over Cheeto Benito getting them stuck so deeply in this mess. They wanted to push out the spending/debt ceiling issue past November, in the hopes that they could continue pursuing their legislative agenda sans headaches over shutdowns/defaults. But instead he openly sabotaged by them by accepting a 3 month extension because he thought he could use that to leverage wall funding from the DNC leadership. Now they’ve got a rolling crisis where every few weeks, they have to visit this again and the DNC’s demands remain pretty much the same. With the knowledge that they’re never going to secure funding without a major concession on their part, but without it they’re never going to do more than just keep limping from deadline to deadline.
