Public shaming of Republican politicians is one tool in the toolbox. It probably won’t get many of them to do anything.

That said, as they whinge about how they are mistreated, it breaks the image they are all-powerful or invincible.

The quintessential example of that is Mitch McConnell’s Senate complaints about how he’s being treated on Twitter as Moscow Mitch (and today on Twitter MassacreMitch is also trending against him).

His appearance at the Fancy Farm event in western Kentucky with Russian flags and communist symbols (along with the same on billboards in the state) are showing him to be vulnerable. Mockery and derision are often the only tools the oppressed have against oppressors, and Sen. McConnell knows it.

He is flustered possibly for the first time in his political career, and flustered politicians make mistakes.
