For me a lack of integrity is just another way of saying malicious liar, because personal integrity is generally what checks our impulse to tell lies in the first place. When one’s reputation matters to them they self edit to the degree necessary to maintain it. Therefore the reservations some people have to labeling someone who repeatedly tells falsehoods a liar, while possibly rooted in a sense of reservation over the gravity of the word, serves no useful function.

Just to be clear - it isn’t the gravity of the word that leads me to question what could explain guru’s behavior. I’m seriously trying to understand the motivation of someone who makes such an ass of himself.
