Something getting lost in this discussion is our elected morons down here trying to do everything on the cheap. Doesn’t matter what it is, all they promise is low or no taxes. How you can effectively prepare for emergencies with no revenue? It costs money to keep any city/metro area running effectively. And the very voters having a complete conniption over this mess are the exact same people who refuse to vote for any kind of taxes to help cover the cost of this stuff and want “smaller government”. We’ve had vote after vote for taxes to prepare for weather emergencies, light rail to help alleviate the traffic clusterfuck here, and on and on and people repeatedly vote those measures down. And the so called leaders here are to cowardly to stand up and say we have to have money to do all this stuff. Also too, our governor in GA, Nathan Deal is a corrupt douchehammer who could give a shit as long as it’s not him that’s stuck on the highways. And you can apply this to anything, from parks and roads to schools. You get what you pay for, if you don’t pay for it, don’t be shocked that it’s not there when you need it.
