Google earth is really helpful at times like this. Just looking around in a 4 or 5 hour drive radius for a quiet nice place to get some landscape or wildlife shots. Get somewhere photogenic and stay a couple days on a budget.

Took a look at Death Valley. OMG $550 a night! The search continues.
