Looks like things might be getting hot in Spain, and I ain’t talking about the weather. Catalonia is on the brink of a unilateral declaration of independence, something Spain absolutely rejects.

So now it comes down to a high-stakes game of chicken between the Madrid government and the Catalan separatist government. What will Madrid do? Arrest the Catalan separatist government? Such a move would provoke massive civil unrest - that in turn could lead the central government to dissolve the Catalan government completely and send in the military to restore order, which would (presumably) be met with even more civil unrest.

Interesting times, indeed.

Is the Catalan Independence movement a truly independent attempt or are Russian bots fueling that too?
