That’s what always made me wonder with Jurassic Park…….why didn’t they use the DNA from birds? Birds are the only currently extant species of dinosaurs. Amphibians didn’t make sense.

Plot device. They needed some of the dinosaurs to change gender, which some amphibians are known to do.
