I think that’s partly because he didn’t have much screen time to really work the character in more. Hopefully the new film will allow us to actually see him less…well…manic.

The reboot film was an origin story that had to work in the entire original bridge crew of the Enterprise, plus Pike, AND it had to tell a story on top of that. Way too much to do in two hours.

Hopefully now that the characters have been introduced the next film will be better. I liked the first one a lot (*ducks*) but it definitely had room for improvement.
