Suspected burglar sniffed out by rookie cop, who happens to be a beautiful German shepherd. I’m thinking my next dog might be a German Shepherd, but what I should do is a rescue. I see some folks have bumper stickers that say “Who saved who”. That really gets to me.

Rescues are great, but be careful that you know what you are getting into. We have a dog who was rescued as an adult from a puppy mill, and she will always be quite impaired. We say she is a cross between a dog and a guinea pig - and that is with way more attention and love than most dogs get (I work at home). An adult who was raised with a family and now needs a new home is much different than an adult who never had any socializing when she was growing up.
