The US has been trying to reduce the number of detainees and has released numerous detainees, but there are legal and logistical challenges that Greenwald thinks simply disappears with the Bergdahl deal?

Some detainees still need to be shifted over for trial/tribunals, and that should be expedited.

But there are some are considered to dangerous to be simply released and there are no countries to which they can be released to.

Even the Bergdahl deal isn’t entirely clear how the 5 will be monitored in Qatar to make sure they don’t rejoin the fight. It’s not like we’ve implanted tracker explosive chips and that if they go off the reservation, hasta la pasta, don’t get any on ya. We’ll have eyes on them, but how effective those will be isn’t clear. Some percentage of detainees released have returned to the fight.
