I will note, however, that after long discussion with My Idiot Brother, who has his moments, he declared that although I am clearly atheist, I’m a Mennonite atheist. That is, my Anabaptist upbringing informs my worldview even with no god in it.

All honesty, I am loath to call myself an atheist, or even agnostic. I call myself a ‘lapsed Catholic’ because even if I don’t believe in the faith anymore, I carry around too much of the upbringing and philosophical underpinnings from growing up a liberal Catholic to say otherwise.
