This is the most bizarre argument they’ve made. The statute is very clear, certain congressional committees can request any tax payer’s returns. They can’t make them public without the taxpayer’s consent, so the question is: why is Trump so intent to hide his returns even from a closed door review by Congress?

It would remove all doubt as to his business being a house of cards?
That he’s not worth nearly as much as he claims?
That all the eyeballs on his businesses would reveal self-dealing, and potential financial crimes?
That he paid no taxes due to NOLs for a lengthy period of time.
That he owes lots of money to foreign entities.

All of the above.
