It’s only been since 2006, as far as I know, that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to get a bill passed. As such, the GOP, party of NO, is a huge issue in getting anything done, especially with the block of conservative Dems who work in concert. The GOP is certainly in a position of power to clock meaningful action on any and every issue and is using that daily.
