re: #256 HappyWarrior

The thing is the “Christian bakers” are picking and choosing. If you’re denying gay couples based on your belief that homosexuality is a sin, then you should be denying divorcees but they’re not denying divorcees. Hell many of these bakers are divorcees themselves.

Interfaith marriages, second marriages, atheist marriages, marriages of couples that cohabitated, interracial marriage, marriages not performed in a church or by a clergy of acceptable adherence to your beliefs…

I was thinking about this last night, for some strange reason, and what jumps out at me is that those of us opposed to these “Christian bakers” have been framing this the wrong way. Rather than saying they’re discriminating based on sexual orientation, we should be pointing out that they are discriminating based on religion - there are plenty of religions/denominations that accept and conduct same sex marriages. I think it’d be a hell of a lot harder for some social conservatives to make the argument that it’s okay if we framed it as religious discrimination rather than sexual orientation discrimination. At the very least, both arguments should be made.
