The islands can be amazing to visit. Been to most of them over the years while barely bothering with the mainland, and contemplated choosing between either Santorini, Mykonos or or Kos this year before the economic crisis hit the fan…

My brother visited Athens, Santorini, Crete, and a few other islands earlier this year. Fabulous photos*. Plus some good stories about hotels losing reservations. Which ended up with him staying at Hotel Bob.**

* - Including pictures of baggies of rock samples. He mixed in some field work with his tourism.

** - Running family joke with encountering “XXX Bob” places in countries where English is not the primary language. This includes “Satay Bob” in Malaysia, “Taverna Bob” and “Hotel Bob” in Greece. I expect to find a “Cantina Bob” or equivalent if I ever visit Brazil on business.
