Here’s the thing, for me - I am a skeptic. I don’t take things on faith, because I don’t have that ability.

Sure, I think that it’s highly unlikely that Trump gets us all killed in a nuclear firestorm. But the fact is, we’ve come DAMNED CLOSE before through bad choices and bad luck. In 1962, before I even turned 5 years old, we came within a hairsbreadth of it, and the only thing that stopped it was a President who could thread the needle between giving in and attacking. I don’t see that ability in Trump, so I can see how he could get us there.

But beyond that, I look at the shit sandwich the GOP is promising to serve up - reversing progress on Climate Change; repealing the ACA out of spite and not replacing it; voucherizing Medicare; cutting Social Security benefits; repealing the regulations put in place to prevent another 2008-style crash; appointing SCOTUS justices who will happily undo Obergefell and Roe v Wade, and a judiciary that will side with the powerful against the weak; undoing the VRA and further restricting minority voting rights; undoing protections for our LGBT brothers and sisters. None of that is ‘crazy talk’, it’s what they’ve fucking PROMISED TO DO!

Isn’t that bad enough? Me? I’m an affluent, straight white guy who works in Pharma. I’ll probably be okay. But nonwhite, nonstraight, nonguys? Not so much.
