Here’s why I think that’s unlikely: Medicare and Social Security, as much as the GOP WANTS TO attack them, are White People Programs. TANF, SNAP, CHIP, etc - those are seen as Welfare, i.e. Black People Programs.

It’s hard to get White People upset about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, even if the deficit downside makes cuts in White People Programs theoretically necessary. But if you try to pass a bill where those cuts are concrete, then all hell breaks lose.

You’re assuming they care about white people. They don’t. They’d kill is off as much as they’d look at us. They’ve tried this with SocSec before. Now that they can do it, they will.
