This surprises me. (And saddens me too) why does it bother you? Are the speaker’s not sincere? Would you rather not be recognized as a soldier?

Bronwen gets a whle lot of answers in that as to why so many “soldiers” do not like the phrase, and a link to his essay on that from a few weeks ago.
She came in that thread to realise why so many veterans and active duty do not like the phrase and apologised.
