You’d also want to EQ it with a high-pass filter to eliminate some of the boominess that comes with the increased sensitivity in the microphone’s preferred direction. I also do subtractive EQ - I sweep the frequency range for things that sound … off … and remove them from the EQ using a sharp notch filter.
Favorited cause my handwriting sucks. Adobe Audition will help me dial in as you recommend. You know what I mean about NPR interviews etc? The ambient sells the voice. IMHO.
