The correct Democratic response is to demand that the government be reopened immediately so that negotiations can begin. I’m not categorically opposed to negotiating a deal to throw Trump a couple of billion for “steel slats” or whatever in return for real concessions on behalf of people who need help; the racists probably won’t let Trump accept a deal like that anyway.

They’ll accept it if it means he gets the wall money, even if it means bitching and moaning awhile about “amnesty.”
