It’s unfortunate that a lot of this is superficial because I like both Castro and Mayor Pete a lot and Castro in fact was in charge of a much larger city but Mayor Pete is the one who has risen in the polls and to his credit, he’s done it quite well.

I know a lot of people crap on the idea of candidate personality issues and coverage, but I think it’s actually important. A lot of what being the president involves is dealing with shit we didn’t expect. And so voters want to get a sense of whether they can trust the person who will be president when the shit hits the fan. I’ve honestly not seen much of him, but it appears that Mayor Pete gives people a sense that he can be trusted, and that probably has a lot to do with why he’s having a moment.
