I suspect the courts would toss an prosecution if the I’s are dotted and the T’s crosses on a trump pardon. Basic Marbury vs Madison issue - one president at a time and just because the president lost or was termed out doesn’t mean he losses the power of office before the new guy is sworn in

I thought an impeached president couldn’t pardon acts directly related to the impeachment.
