That why I have to take breaks from the Internet sometimes. I have to go out in the world and check with my husband and see if he is facing more discrimination that usual. They don’t know that he is not a practicing Muslim, it’s just that he looks like it and has an accent. Which the accent invariably leads to THE question, where are you from? When he says Iran now, it’s always leads to the conversation about how they feel about Iran. Even if they know that he has been here for a long, long time.

And don’t even mention that you son is in the military, then they get an even more deranged look in the eyes.

Or maybe it’s just that we live in Oklahoma. But I don’t think so. We just returned from a cruise. The friendliest people are not from the US now.
