re: #22 lawhawk

DHS Napolitano in Staten Island; complaints that it took 4 days to make it to Staten Island - particularly against FEMA and Red Cross.

There’s merit to that - Staten Island was among the hardest hit areas, and the resources haven’t been brought to bear nearly as well as they should have. They need to “fill the zone” with help.

And the weather’s turning colder heading into the weekend and next week.

NYC harbor is once again reopened. That’s a huge help - marine traffic was shut after the storm because the USCG found unsafe conditions - channel bouys had to be relocated/remarked. Once the situation was deemed safe, they could reopen to traffic, including tankers with oil/gas.

Right now, there’s potential for a Nor’easter on Wednesday. More to follow.

Was Staten Island supposed to be evacuated?
