Sort of like the “training the customer” strategies in other industries.

For example, in jewelry, De Beers and their syndicate have spent a lifetime forming the publics ideas of what jewelry ought to be, what a diamond signifies, what to look for in diamonds, what to expect to pay, etc. They do this through very extensive advertising campaigns that run for many years.

They can (or used to) get away with that because of the near monopoly they have.

Google too is trying to “educate” their customer into what a “search engine” ought to be.
