They want to follow the Harper plan I guess.

It’s like when I sat with my in-laws one Christmas and listened to my mother-in-law bitching about how some of this science funding was totally useless and the NSF is just wasting money and blah blah blah Fox News talking point blah.

Until I reminded her that my salary, pitiful though it may be as a grad student, is paid for by one of those grants. And perhaps maybe the grant process, which I know something about, does a pretty good job of weeding out the shit.
