re: #259 HappyWarrior

The Democratic Party of my grandfather’s youth was heavily comprised of working class men. We’ll welcome them into our party if they want to but they need to eralize that they share a party with racial minorities, women, immigrants, LGBT people, etc all of whom have issues that should be listened to. What infuriates me is this lie that Clinton didn’t address the working class’s concerns. She did, she just didn’t lie to them about returnng them to a mythological past like Trump/Sanders did.

I know I said (shortly after the election) that much of HRC’s messaging failed to reach the very people who would have been helped by her policies and hurt by trump’s, and while I still believe tactics and campaigning could have been a lot better, there’s one thing I didn’t realize about the WWC voters who supported Obama in 2008 and 2012 but went full trumptard in 2016 - they were angered by how he handled the Trayvon Martin killing and Black Lives Matter movement.

So…yes…classic “We’re not racist, how dare you imply we’re racist, and just for that, we’re gonna vote for the candidate endorsed by white supremacists! Derp.” Apparently some WWC voters were fine with Obama just as long as he didn’t act too blackity-blackity-black -_-
