I read that as well over there. Markos is pretty dialed in to California politics. The SurveyUSA 51-40 for removal in late July/early August scared the fuck out of a lot of us. His mask mandates however, have kept our schools from being hot zones, and the fear of turning into Texas or Florida has even most Republicans having second thoughts about throwing our state into the shitter.

I wonder if Newsom’s constantly having to deal with the wildfires incinerating vast regions of his state has helped his public image? I recall seeing numerous clips on the news about this fire or that fire in CA, and Gavin was usually there - not just showing up for a photo-op, but making it look like he was seriously keeping an eye on firefighting efforts.
That said, do you know if there has been a major ad blitz one way or another? I would have thought that the Dems would want to make sure the defeat of the recall was a major priority (the apathy issue and all that) - I f I were Gavin Newson, I’d have had a well-crafted message out on the airwaves for (at least) months: especially when it looked like a buffoon like Larry Elder was going to might be the “plurality” winner….
