What he said mirrors my own thoughts. From the fact that Manning was not pardoned; she had her sentence commuted on to the point that the length of the sentence was out of sync with other similar cases or even those of actual traitors, and that ultimately it was up to the President to reduce the length based on all the factors involved. Jim wouldn’t have reduced the length. I probably wouldn’t have either.

But I can’t fault the President for doing it.
