It’s not just fear, it’s plenty of hate mixed in as well. Especially for the black man who was in the White House for 8 years. I blocked their Facebook pages because they endlessly dripped with racist hatred for Obama. But they love to bullshit endlessly about their “deep christian faith”.

Which is why I walked out of a church for the last time in 1986 when the Pulpit Pimp was preaching Republican propaganda about tax cuts for the rich. My aunt went off on me blaspheming De Lawd. I told her to stop worshipping Ayn Rand.

I will never step foot in a church again.

That’s too bad. I don’t know whether you’re a believer or not, but I can tell you that there are churches that are not like that. I grew up in one - though it didn’t take - and a couple of my siblings have found churches that are the polar opposite.

I’ve met a number of people over the years whose view of Christianity has been shaped by exposure to “Christians”, and it really bothers me that this is becoming the prevailing view, because those “Christians” are SO LOUD.

Of course, being atheist, I really don’t have a god in the fight. But I know it doesn’t have to be like this.
