And yet he gave Mitt Romney a fight that lasted well into April. He’s nuts but his nuttiness is paltable to many in the GOP base and as pointed out the GOP does have a habit of going next in line. I do think they finally break it because I don’t think Santorum is too popular with corporate donors.

Those donors know he can’t win and corporate chieftains tend to avoid pouring money into things that will inevitably blow up and hurt them (there are exceptions, see Enron for a famous example).
