Modern conservatism looks more and more like reactionarism to me daily. It’s not a thought out ideology. It’s a reaction to change whether that’s LGBT people, immigrants, or religious minorities. And I’d argue that it’s pretty much been that way for a long time in this coutnry.

its fear of change. because change and adaptation are scary (to some)

it is not because the way things are and /or were is in any way inherently “better” or would be if we could “get back” to the way it once was
