Reagan literally had Alzheimer’s, which was clearly manifesting itself during his second term, and once it was diagnosed the foreshadowing was clear even by the 1984 campaign.

So, saying you’ll handle it like Reagan is not actually a smart thing to say.

They never refer to the real-life Reagan, only the fuzzy-rose-tinted-memories-of-morning-in-America Reagan.
