And why didn’t he reject it when the head of the American Legion brought it up during their face-to-face meeting on Monday, instead of telling him that he and the heads of the other veterans’ groups needed to come up with an alternative plan?

Or are you claiming that the head of the American Legion lied about what was said during the meeting?
