And even at godhood, Kefka got killed. Pretty bad when the “God” can be be pummeled by a few people. So Kefka got what he wanted and still got beaten with all that power. Advantage: Sephiroth.

Sephiroth’s other main advantage is that who he is, is deeply tied into who the PCs are even before they begin the adventure and we first meet them.

This makes him a more thematically interesting villain… not to mention you can have endless fun getting into flame wars over his paternity issues.
