It’s a joke, but there’s more than an element of truth in it. The Pentagon is going in big on robotics.

One of the biggees is the load bearing exoskeletons. Not “Iron Man” by a long shot, but allows a soldier to carry a combat load with less fatigue.

They had another one for artillerymen to aid them carrying munitions.
