re: #257 HappyWarrior

I have a hard time with some other guys on the spectrum since many of them are obsessed with this wrong idea that women have it “easier” than me when it comes to dating. Does it bother me a little as an introvert that societal constructs say I should initiate? Sure, I won’t lie, it does but I also know as a guy, I am under much less pressure to maintain my looks. I can be a little heavy and I won’t be judged harshly. I can go a week without shaving and not really feel judged.

I’m sure it is more difficult for you, but I think the best way to develop a relationship is to find someone with similar interests-a friend-and then see if it develops into something else. Kind of a win-win, and no one really has to do a lot of initiating.
I met my husband in grad school and was a strictly platonic friend for a couple months before I chanced to look over at him at a party one evening and the scales fell from my eyes (as it were. One of the stranger experiences of my life, but a very good one. Love at 154th sight or something.)
