So, you see, your joke fell flat because you’re kind of ignorant about what you’re trying to mock; it’s hard to poke fun at something when you don’t really have a grasp of it.

Well, it’s hard to rebut a passing comment when you don’t really have a grasp of its intent. It was a passing flippant comment, not a master’s thesis on comparative religions.

If you’re attempting to mock sacred (or profane) animals, make sure that what you’re talking about is actually a sacred or profane animals, or you just wind up seeming ignorant and possibly bigoted.

Well, caring about political correctness isn’t really my strong point. In fact, it’s not really a skill I care to hone at all. Life’s too short to worry about such trivialities.
