re: #269 klys (maker of Silmarils)

Someone in my Twitter TL was ranting today about how a romantic relationship between a 50 year old guy and a 20 year old woman is presented as the “reward” in a non-small number of fiction novels these days.

I just wish some of these novels dealt with the issues in those kinds of relationships. Retirement planning fucking sucks.

As one who married a man 14 years my senior who left me a young (47) widow, retirement is a distracting future issue. Good to think about, but live for today. You will likely not grow old together. There’s a joy in that, too.
