I read that article earlier today. You know how real estate people say, “Location, location, location”? The Trump-branded property in Baku is in a shitty area and is apparently very hard to reach by car. Equivalent high-end hotels are in better locations. There is no way that property will turn a profit, and either the developers are total idiots or the hotel is intended as a front for a different kind of business.

Trump’s investment in the property is unclear, but Ivanka paid them a visit personally and the Trump Org paid close attention to the interior design. So, it’s not like he just licensed his name and walked away.

Trump is in deep with criminal forces, I’m convinced of it. If he is, he’s skating on thin ice.

This is all about money laundering, in the case of the Revolutionary Guard, to avoid sanctions, in the case of the Azeri plutocrats, just business as usual.

I would like to see him wiggle his way out of a connection to the Iranians.
