re: #261 electrotek
Speaking as someone from outside the Muslim community, so forgive me if I sound clueless, but I’ve noticed a real surge lately in young Muslimas pushing back against stereotypes and sexism. There’s Malala, of course, but also Noor Tagouri, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Ohareeba and Noor Unnahar Siddiqui in Pakistan, Ysra Mardini, and many more. I follow all them on Instagram and Twitter, and they take a lot of heat from traditionalists in their own faith community who don’t the way they dress, act and opine. (Actually, I am not sure if Mardini is Muslim, but she is a Syrian refugee.)
More power to them.
