Anyway, yes, they’re a blessing when you have them, is true.
They have no idea how capable they are of pulling me out of a bad mood just by being their goofy, quirky selves.
Our oldest cat has nearly checked out twice already - first from a urinary tract blockage, and then lapsing into diabetic shock nearly five years ago. At that time, we were expecting a lifetime of sticking our cat with a needle twice a day for the rest of his life - but somehow as he recovered the diabetes went away and never returned.
He’s a tough old boy, but every so often I look at him and he looks every day of his age (nearly 15). It makes me sad and I hug him harder, and he scratches my arms to get away from the Cloying Human.
I love that cat.
