re: #259 Belafon

Beto ran the kind of campaign a certain Senator from Illinois did. Had he run in a slightly more liberal state than here in Texas, he would have won.

I don’t get the “can’t go from the House to the presidency thing.” It’s not like 2016 was his first term. He’s got government experience. The House isn’t the lesser chamber.

Oh hey, US representative. Funny I’d gotten it into my head he was a member of the TX state house. My bad, that’s way less of an impediment (…and ouch).
I agree house or senate doesn’t really matter all that much (well, I mean, smaller chamber does tend to mean more responsibility for committee members and being involved in the whole appointments process is valuable but I doubt many voters who actually know and care enough to make that distinction will be swayed either way come 2020).

Best would be a governor with previous legislative experience (or legislator with gubernatorial experience I guess) but I guess you can’t win them all.

(TBH personally I really don’t like his style on a podium and the whole ‘cool teacher’ vibe he’s got about him isn’t something I’m happy with from any responsible adult but that’s nothing worse than what Obama’s campaign (2008 anyway) felt like to me and he was great once he got into office so ehh. And it’s not like either of us wouldn’t prefer decomposing raccoon/cthulhu 2020 to get rid of the current menace anyway).
