Whut?
Well, not necessarily a pop band per say, you might find this interesting.
Deep Purple with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Albert Hall. Music arrangement by Deep Purple’s John Lord (Keyboards). 1970.

deep purple was my favorite group growing up. I was a singer in a rock band who pretty much emulated Ian Gillian’s style as best I could. Back in the late 70’s, before CD’s became popular and all the back catalogues started getting re-released, I stumbled across a double album called “Purple Passages,” that was the first introduction I had to Deep Purple pre-Fireball. It was a lot of their Mark I lineup Tetragrammaton albums, along with one entire side of the concerto.
