This question is for anyone who has a pressure cooker. I have an older, high end (Cuisinart) pressure cooker. I am trying to discern the difference between an Instant Pot and a regular pressure cooker. Mine will brown and pressure cook on high and low. There is a timer. Anyone know?

I have a Futura pressure cooker, which is great. Pressure cookers do not have a timer and the pressure can only be adjusted by adjusting the burner flame on the stove.

I also have a slow cooker and a rice steamer.

Should I buy an instant pot? It seems redundant with all the gadgets that I already have, but if it’s so easy to use then maybe I can train Zedushka to have hot meal ready for me when I get home. All he knows how to make are hamburgers and hot dogs.

If Instant Pot is really easy to use maybe he can be trained on it. He’s intimidated by the pressure cooker, because 40 years ago our next door neighbor came home, saw the pressure cooker on the stove & was like “what’s this jiggling thing?” and BOOM!
